This is similar to my crank MBA-ization theory: We used to have exciting growth stocks and boring reliable stocks that retirees could invest in. Now every industry wants 30% returns so our banks and utilities are less stable and reliable.
The Fig EconomyMy sort of crank, not thought through theory is that as MBA brain has proliferated, management of businesses has gotten more and more divorced from the particulars of the businesses they’re managing, and CEOs’ jobs are “business” in the same way Ken’s job is “beach.”
