new Very Favorite Book: first edition of Long Lance, by this dude who just DECIDED to be Blackfoot, and wrote a book about coming up that way. SO cool. endless amounts of fun. and? pretty well-done, too. also, if you're going to pretend to be Indian, why NOT just be a chief, right? makes sense to me

so hot I had to race to eat my peanut-butter-and-sugar sandwiches in the backyard—the sun was turning the peanut butter liquid. kind of fun. but of course I couldn't touch any of my skin to any of the metal of the table or chair. and I think my hair nearly combusted. in CO, man, the sun is CLOSE.
