A few years ago a debut spy novel came out that was blurbed by some well-known authors and got rave reviews. Then somebody noticed it was cobbled together using passages plagiarized from other books. As far as I know the author doesn't have a career because of it. That should happen here, too.
Ashley Lynch ✂️🎞️A debut crime novel becomes a hot property and is auctioned between publishers eventually fetching $2m. And then the deal collapses entirely because the author used AI and it won't be published at all. www.theguardian.com/books/2026/j...
Remember when Google was all "Don't be evil"? Yeah. Good times.
Joseph CoxNew from 404 Media: Google Earth has introduced an AI feature that lets anyone fabricate completely bullshit satellite images. In our own tests, we added a “bomb blast and crater” to an area of Los Angeles. This is a misinformation time bomb, will 100% be abused www.404media.co/google-earth...
Never trust a man who accidentally blows himself up in his workshop with a coffee can of explosives to summon a goddess in Pasadena.
Josephine "Megalith" Riesman1946 was also the year in which L. Ron Hubbard and Jack Parsons attempted to summon the Antichrist through Crowleyan sex magick Maybe they accidentally did the wrong magick and now everyone born in 1946 is the Antichrist
I was wondering how long it was going to take for this to happen. If every state isn't getting in on this to get their cut for lost gambling revenue, folks aren't doing their jobs.
More Perfect UnionBREAKING: New York just sued Kalshi — alleging it’s an illegal gambling operation. New York AG Letitia James alleges Kalshi failed to obtain a state gambling license and pay taxes. Her office is seeking an order enjoining Kalshi’s operations, plus fines, restitution and forfeiture of profits.
Data centers are using the same playbook to get into cities that sports arenas have been using for years.
Max KennerlyQuite telling how every argument for AI data centers is transparent bullshit. It creates no lasting jobs or population movement at all. Literally no reason for any place to allow it unless the community extracts massive perpetual cash payments in return.
Basically AI is this scene from Animal House.
Alexander MartinI find it weird that a large part of Anthropic’s disclosure is based on Claude’s chain-of-thought outputs, yet I’ve seen no other reports noting Anthropic’s own research found this output to be rarely accurate. Surely tech journalism can do better?

HOW DID WE ANGER THE GODS SO TO DESERVE THIS
Rex HuppkeThis is a factual sentence: Amid an outbreak of explosive diarrhea and with measles cases at a 35-year high, America’s top health official, who has an affinity for roadkill and guzzling raw milk, will soon start hosting a cooking show. My column, tragically: www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...
HOW exactly did they expect people who couldn't afford ACA coverage to find another way to get health insurance? THERE ISN'T ANOTHER OPTION. The GOP needs to be destroyed in the next election and people need to be reminded constantly what they did so they can't do it again.
