V happy this is now out in the world. TLDR: there’s a new big bit of Chester Castle which still survives! Inner Gatehouse was thought entirely demolished, but a pier for the drawbridge remains, deep in the foundations of a later building. www.chester.ac.uk/about/news/a... New gatehouse recon ⬇️
I had replied to the below: Paper maps are great. Never run out of juice, let you see the close-up detail and the big picture at the same time (because they're three feet wide, unlike your phone), and the more you use them the more you learn your way around without them, unlike obeying a machine.

While Erling Haaland does look like he personally held off the English army at the Battle of Stamford Bridge until being speared from below, he also purchased a 16th century copy of Snorri Sturluson's writing to return it to the community so he's in our good books.
