Once, my Foreign-Looking Word of the Moment was “the”. That was pretty much impossible not to trip over.

My microwave has buttons for this! You can choose a beep or a little jingle, set the volume, or just turn it off. I turned it off. …the beep. You can turn off the beep. That other thing is a different problem.

Headcanon: Everyone’s mind has a Foreign-Looking Word of the Moment pointer, like a roulette wheel with your entire vocabulary around the edge. Every minute or so, it spins and lands on a random word, which suddenly becomes weird. It only causes trouble if you actually read that word at that moment.
