This feels like they got 80% of the way to what they thought was an actual story and either couldn’t finish it out but felt pot committed or just hit publish because why not at this point. “He should have been a better dude” seems to be the scope of it.
the only safe thing to do is get behind the kind of establishment candidates who created the conditions we are now living in and who voters appear to hate! be smart!
it sure seems to demonstrate that the state party apparatus has atrophied almost completely and was ripe for a takeover by someone like Fran who appears to be the only one actually actively and energetically campaigning
gloves have definitely come off as everyone else scrambles to become the establishment / consolidation candidate. Barnes PAC story today, the Crowley Dirk McGirk story from last week & the entire Rodriguez implosion all clearing a path imo.
a weeks worth of stories about Barnes having skeletons in his closet and being too risky for the establishment and then this. Fran has the mandate of heaven.
i don't dislike Crowley or Roys or Brennan. I was very excited to back Barnes in '22 for Senate and I'll vote for him, or any of them if they win, but the dynamics here do not reflect well on The Establishment such as it is
the writing was on the wall when Evers couldn't get that budget deal through. No one is in charge, no one is "good" at doing things behind the scenes. People want change.
