Ideology Over Facts:  - Lysenko's pseudoscience was "state-approved" -The OMB proposal requires that all research "demonstrably advances the President's policy priorities." 🧵

THE PARALLELS. Politicians Over Experts:  - The Soviet Union ignored the warnings of scientists and backed Lysenko with no knowledge in agriculture themselves. - The OMB Proposal puts all grant decision making directly into the hands of political appointees. 🧵

SOVIET UNION. Trofim Lysenko's agricultural pseudoscience was adopted as "state-approved science", and it led to famine, over 6 million deaths. Scientists who opposed Lysenko's pseudoscience were fired, imprisoned, and even executed. 🧵
