At the UK National Srebrenica Memorial Ceremony, Kathryne Bomberger from ICMP spoke of the efforts of forensics teams in finding the evidence to hold perpetrators to account. This year marks 30 years since the first deployments, whose tireless work has identified 90% of the missing in Bosnia.

Our 2026 theme, We Are Here, is reflected not only in the stories of those who survived genocide, but also through those who followed them. By sharing her family's story, Nejira has shown all of us how important it is to remember, to commemorate, and to strive to build a cohesive, tolerant society.

Today, on the 31st anniversary, we remember Srebrenica. On 11 July 1995, 8,372 men and boys were murdered simply for who they were. Fathers, sons, brothers. We remember the victims, the survivors and together we say: Never again means never again. #Srebrenica31 #RememberingSrebrenica
