Over at the Spliced Personality Substack this week I reviewed Gregg Araki's I WANT YOUR SEX, which is a lot of fun but it finishes too quickly. I hear that happens sometimes.
At WBUR this week I reviewed WILD INSIDE. Penny Lane’s enchanting documentary about Flaco the owl opens tomorrow in New York and screens Tuesday night at the Coolidge Corner Theatre. I loved this movie.
Over at the Spliced Personality Substack I managed to review SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY without giving away who the villain is.
At WBUR this week I wrote about Ross McElwee’s masterpiece SHERMAN’S MARCH, which is returning to the Coolidge alongside his devastating new companion piece REMAKE. You should go see both, but maybe not back-to-back.
Over at the Spliced Personality Substack this week I reviewed Nicolas Winding Refn's HER PRIVATE HELL, which is absolutely terrible and maybe also kind of great?
At Crooked Marquee's Classic Corner this week I wrote about MY BRILLIANT CAREER and how comfortable Sam Neill was ceding the spotlight to his female co-stars.
My talk with the great @hankphillippiryan.bsky.social after last week’s WBUR CitySpace’s SET IN BOSTON screening of THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR is now up on YouTube. Warning: Contains spoilers for a 58-year-old movie!
At WBUR this week I wrote about the Somerville Theatre’s upcoming 70mm presentations of HOWARD THE DUCK and THE DOORS. Very excited for one of these.
My favorite movie of last year is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Over at the Spliced Personality Substack this week I wrote about MARY OLIVER: SAVED BY THE BEAUTY OF THE WORLD, which is now playing at the Coolidge and other theaters. Made this one free to all because I'm a few days late with it. Sorry 'bout that.
