Exactly! I started also comparing games to types of food. Cheap games can be amazing even if they have a lot of flaws. It's kinda like going out for fast food vs gourmet food. Like, you could sit down and play the polished experience of a Zelda game or you could try a spunky indie like Pipistrello.

A dev friend of mine taught me to do that too! I actually bought Marathon and gave it an honest go. I've played hours with my friends and had a lot of good moments with them and $40 for a game was a steal in terms of hours I've gotten out of it. Is it worth multiple trips to the movies? Ye.

I kinda saw this coming ages ago. I jumped ship when PS Plus was required for online multiplayer. It just screamed, "we want to milk you for as much money as possible." Sure, I didn't get to play Bloodborne and some other exclusives on my own time but that's what friends are for.

Vampire Survivors updates...

I quit when they decided to make 2 battle passes per season. I miss playing with friends but I'm not gonna grind THAT much for things. It really freed me up to do other things.

Side note: I realized too late that Vintage Story may be a metaphorical black hole for my free time. Hot DAMN. I can just vibe in that game for hours and I'm still not much past Copper Age level technology!

Depends on the contract but yes, they can. Now, is that amount appropriate for the amount of work they did? That's a different matter but still important.
