This was actually addressed by @amfisheriessoc.bsky.social years ago, with the plural of “gar” being “gars” reGARdless of whether the plural included same or multiple species. I’ve kept this rule, even though AFS later “relaxed” the rule and said “gars” is plural, but “gar” can be plural too.

Imagine that, raise a NATIVE fish in hatcheries that significantly combats invasive species. Recreational angling is important, but I think we could consider repurposing some of our current Brown Trout/non-native Rainbow Trout hatchery efforts…
Explorer RowanSince they're native to most of the St. Lawrence and Mississippi watersheds, I wonder if an aquaculture program for these guys would help. They're pretty common already, but if there we caused a population boom to deal with the mussels, that would equalize over time since they're native.
