1/5 Had dinner with my parents this afternoon. They had been at a gathering of their social circle yesterday, a lot of musical people there, mainly classical / choral people, that they hang with, all in their 70s and 80s.

Have been seeing stuff said about Hansard that I did not know. There is a very strong consistency with what I already knew. In due course, there will be a lot of comments and articles being removed from publication.

Thanks be to jaysus but I expect the core concept will see the light of day once it is watered down, because the tech industry is totally predicated on generative AI.

This is absolutely insane. I used to work in software dev for a GIS (geographic information services / mapping) company. Google provided some of the base map layers. The internet and the development of genuinely useful web applications is dying - it's sort of generative horseshit that is killing it.

The eulogising 9f Hansard by media people that really should and I would think actually do know better will look awful. I was into The Frames but then found out he was seriously icky in 2006, 2007. That was 20 years ago!!

This is just to say That man was a creep who definitely lusted and pursued young women Who were much much younger than his own personal age profile and forgive me for upsetting those who enjoyed his music as I did.

Not going to get into a debate on this, but Glen Hansard was a total and utter sleaze. Being a talented musician does not change that. Read his own words about knowing Marketa Irglová being "just a kid" when he was falling in love with her. Disgusting.

Did Classical Studies in school. Saw The Odyssey, having read it, the Iliad, The Aeneid, some plays. It is really, really hard to put Ancient Greece on the screen but this was a superb effort. It's worth seeing. Will go back a second time. But don't sit at the back of the cinema, choose the middle!
