I'm pretty sure you're right about family annihilators being white more often, as least compared to the general murder rate. They usually at least perform a higher level of socioeconomic status, too, which makes sense in that the crime is often partially attributable to a perceived loss of status.

Clinically significant narcissism is a fairly common trait amongst these perpetrators, particularly the male ones. They tend to categorize their families as objects. (The motives, pathology, and tactics are usually [but not always] different with females who commit familicide.)

A majority of mass killers kill their own immediate family; the ones who kill their whole family (and often the pets) are called family annihilators. It's usually the senior male member of the family killing everyone else and then either killing himself or goading the cops into doing it for him.

Anyway, my point was that "I'm in a rehab facility and haven't been medically cleared to leave the premises" is contrary to what I personally know about rehab facilities. I'm thus acutely skeptical regarding the claims in this statement from his team.

Not exactly, but close - I was in an induced coma because my pneumonia had turned into multiple organ failure and sepsis. While I remain skeptical of the official story here, I'm also not latching onto any particular explanation, since multiple explanations are plausible given the evidence we have.

You could apparently have your antisemitism only so long as the book was old enough and/or didn't actually say that right on the cover; everyone else was free game. (Also, those shelves were next to each other, almost always in that order: Catholic, Mormon, Cults. A clear hierarchy of heresy.)

Basically every anti-whoever (except anti-Reformation) book written since 1500 that was still in print, even if it had whackadoodle living room mail order operation vibes. Was anthropologically fascinating, especially looking for the oldest thing there (usually by Luther or Calvin).

I used to make a game of going into Lifeway Books and counting how many shelves were devoted to Catholics, Mormons, and "cults" in general. Usually something like 8:7:9, because they shelved all the specifically anti-JW (etc.) books in the third group and had *all* the classics.

This is *absolutely* still a thing in Ohio and I suspect any other place with lots of evangelicals. More than a few theoretically non-denominational pastors here take regular time out of shilling for Republicans and condemning abortion and LGBT people to rail against wrong-flavor Christians.

Especially because if their families were anything like mine, the way it was dealt with looked more like "nobody in this house will ever say the word 'Lithuania' again" than, say, demonstrating healthy coping skills. I had to play detective to figure out where my dad's grandparents were born!

I think a lot of Jewish actors in that period (most of whom were too young to have actually fought the Nazis, but were often old enough to remember the war) needed an outlet for the extremely messy feelings caused by having a whole bunch of your relatives/neighbors killed when you *couldn't* help.

Much like that Star Trek episode, the Nazis come off rather badly in that show (though they are hilariously incompetent evil instead of inherently evil despite their [completely ahistorical] efficiency rating). It's basically the answer to "what if Stalag 17 was way more like Gilligan's Island".

It wasn't that unusual in the 1960's - most of the Nazis in Hogan's Heroes were Jewish, including all of the regulars. One of the cast members spent 3 years in a concentration camp, and three of the four regulars playing Nazis had been forced to flee Europe to survive. Creators were Jewish, too.

I mean, it's not the least-charitable available interpretation of that phrase...

I mean, growing up in 1980s Los Angeles (where particulates from burning biomass were not the only or worst problem) is almost certainly why I have asthma now. On average, people who live in these places get more sick more often and also die younger.

(NB: I was very obviously sick on those excursions - not quite "death warmed over" but definitely in the same neighborhood. "Not cleared by the doctors" is of course distinct from "not cleared by the PR guys".)

I'd started staying awake for more than five minutes (still in the high acuity ward) three weeks before the transfer. "Not medically cleared to leave the premises" after *six* weeks when *none* of them was coma time is, well, an extremely bad sign. Assuming he's actually alive, I mean.

I'd been breathing 100% room air with no mechanical help from the ventilator (even at night) for a week, and had my tracheostomy and gastric tubes removed the morning of the transfer to rehab; my mom took me out for the first time I think four days later, because it was Saturday (so no PT).

My parents were allowed to sign me out of my rehab facility for excursions once they proved they could handle the wheelchair and knew my limits. As long as it didn't interfere with scheduled PT it was fine, and this was *not* a fancy private facility that could provide an actual caretaker.

(There's still a surcharge on all the water/sewer bills so far as I know; I remember thinking in high school that I'd be middle-aged before the bond was paid off. Extremely aggravating and expensive!)
