Deeply resentful about how much time I have to spend remembering how to write my own goddamn story because I have so many voices in my head taking up space even when I didn't realize I had let them, but here we are.

And she's an action heroine! The stories simply do not WORK without her getting to be an action heroine! Cction is integral to her and therefore to the books. So I approached rewriting some of these scenes remembering THE ACTION IS THE POINT. If they're not engaging me and not fun, I've lost my way.

I delve into this in the behind-the-scenes sections because I started with her first before building everything else, and that was so hard for me because she approaches coping with mental illness by being physically active while I cope with storytelling. Everything, in every story, starts with her.

But as much as the adventure is window dressing for a story about trauma and surviving violence and a woman realizing she doesn't know what she's doing but trying anyway, the action is *vital* to the character. Her physicality is vital to who she is, it's part of her foundation.

Which is funny because I have certainly joked about people complaining about the action scenes in my *checks notes* action series but I simultaneously started internalizing that complaint, so I lost all enthusiasm and just sort of...left them out?

Working on this I realized at one point that I'd unknowingly, unintentionally internalized a lot of the criticisms about the action scenes in the series (not how they're written--that they exist at all) and that's what blocked a lot of the writing for both this and [redacted].

I saw the video, they just walk in, she pulls this poor cat out of the cage and stuffs it in her coat, and runs out! Just blatant theft! The poor thing, I'm glad she's okay.

Absolutely. D2D will auto-optimize but I still customize that usually because the USD conversion is so high for CAD (and the last thing I want to do is piss off people like me lol), but I always recommend people get in the habit of thinking about it, just to practice not being so US-centric.

Yes, I don't know what kind of screen the Zon's publishing imprints have but I assume it's like our KDP. You can manually change the amount on the pricing page. I change all mine to be optimized in various regions. A lot of people just skip that step and I suspect it affects international sales.

It's an author I generally like who is only published by one of Amazon's imprints and this is why I sometimes just end up waiting for a sale or for when I do my once-a-year KU binge read for a month. I don't like being an afterthought just because I'm in Canada.

There's a reason Kobo will reject you from promos for not optimizing your price points (.99 or .49 depending on region) and yes, I know the .99 is a silly psychological thing but ALSO: once again, this tells people in other regions that you're an afterthought and not their market.

That book is $4.99 in the US and while I know our dollars are different, I'm already resentful of much higher CAD prices; it's actually insulting when they can't even be bothered to make that $6.99. Realistically I know this is because they expect most sales to be KU but still.

It's $3 a load to wash! I air dry on a rack in my apartment because I'm not paying that or more to dry, and I'm certainly not spending that to rinse nearly everything a second time. I have to make a special trip somewhere just to get loonies, ffs.
