Yeah that sounds about right!! I was thankfully not a big enough blog to get any direct hate, but some of the stuff I saw happening to others was just… ridiculous. They were so fucking weird and inappropriate. ://

Seriously, it was like... THIS is what we're doing?? THIS SHIT??? I still cannot believe it, and it was like 10+ years ago that it happened!

It was an exhausting era of fandom, and is honestly one of the primary reasons I don't engage with fandom stuff anymore. Like, I'll write fanfic, etc., but Fandom Itself, I have found, can be a hotbed of Drama, and I don't have time for that shit. I am 30 or 40 years old and I do not need this.

Not to mention, some haters like assuming a stance of moral superiority over those who like the thing, if they can make liking/disliking it a moral issue. With the Moffat v. RTD thing: Moffat was widely accused of being a misogynist (he isn't), and thus anyone who liked his DW was ALSO, etc.

In my experience (which was liking Steven Moffat's Doctor Who more than Russell T Davies'), I think some haters also get gratification from bullying people who DO like the thing. I remember an anon telling suicidal a Moffat fan that they had nothing to live for if they were staying alive for new DW.
