my feedback through S1 (light spoilers, no additional spoilers please thanks): -grateful for the S1 sports ending, as a more positive resolution would've seemed disrespectful to the actual professionals coaching this sport -no right way to handle a divorce but I'm feeling better about my own

finally caved, got apple tv to watch soccer thought I might as well watch the soccer show on apple tv too the first few seasons are charming, I've been binging it so it's my fault apple tv is down, must've been right at their operating limit and I'm the straw that broke the camel's back sorry

pretty sure I've seen the Crew play live, when I was a little kid. I remember wanting to play rather than watch. MLS has always struck me as a bit... depressing? In a "please care about soccer I promise we're trying our best" kind of way but choosing to instead view that as scrappy underdog-ness

very much called out by this ESPN reporter huh (reporting on how US folks are looking for Premier League teams vs MLS teams) so I gave in and watched my local MLS team (Columbus Crew, playing rivals Cincinnati in the delightfully named "Hell is Real" derby) and, you know what? I had a good time.

I grew up playing soccer quite a bit-- travel leagues, rec leagues (often 2 or 3 teams simultaneously), through to pickup games in grad school before injuries convinced me to quit. Soccer certainly isn't rare here but goodness what I've give for an England-like club system, seems so fun

Folks here love American football. There's 1439 high schools in Ohio, and 110 colleges/universities-- I'm guessing most have a football team and many have children's league teams. Plus two professional teams. I'm guessing there are fewer football teams at any level here, corrected for population

We definitely have more tiny local lower-tier teams-- I've watched more Akron Rubber Ducks (baseball) and Cleveland Monsters (hockey) games than any other teams, tickets are cheaper. College sports can be quite huge (our school's stadium is larger than any professional one in Europe), but still

but some of these English clubs have an even smaller footprint than 100k+ (not in the Premier League per se, the smallest there is Bournemouth at 196k)
