when I lived in the Bronx I was in Kingsbridge. going to Hunts Point would have *ruined* my commute. that's the whole other side of the borough. It would be easier to go to Fairway in west Harlem which offers some degree of warehouse pricing and then get back on the train. that's what you're missing

do you know how much time it puts in a rush hour subway commute to go several neighborhoods and train lines over? do you think people just regularly do that to bargain hunt? for groceries? do you understand how well-served most of central new york city is for groceries?

you're making this person up. people in new york bargain hunt, that's true. they don't go to the bronx to buy staple foods unless they actually live in the bronx and can't buy staple foods somewhere else. the people who go to those lengths do so because they actually need to - the target demographic

again I can tell you from over two decades experience living in New York City nobody of means is going to go out of their way to go to a city run grocery store to get cheaper staples. those people don’t even go to their local C-Town or Associated if they can help it.

I can guarantee you next to zero point zero % of New York rich people will be shopping at the city grocery stores
