If people are living in delusions, the job of the party is not to cater to those delusions, which only serves to cement them as "truth" in their minds. The job is to say, "No, this is bullshit, this regime is a bunch of goddamned nazis, and either we are better than that, or we aren't. Decide."

Yes, but the *recent* history of *this* electoral system has seen *one* party get *everything* they want -- including all three branches of fed gov't operating at the behest of an erratic, doddering despot -- while the other party serves as a hapless pawl to the one-way ratchet. Voters see that.

Yes. *Everyone* faces that hard choice, not just bumptious leftie-DSA types. The easily startled suburban deer -- the "normies," as if there's anything "normal" about people who cannot decide btw Fascism and Not Fascism b/c DEI / trans or whatever -- are also responsible for their choices.

Does that mean go full DSA? No. But it does mean the gross bromides about "needing a strong Republican party" need to disappear, like about 8 yrs ago, and that maybe a strong *Democratic* party is what's needed. So what might that strength look like, and who are its proponents?

The more this regime increases blowing up everything in its path, the less useful historical trends and data are right now. They're not *useless*, but there's clearly a rumbling in the electorate that's responsive to [waves arms around] *all this*. More and better incrementalism ain't it right now.

Sure, but nothing's guaranteed; nothing is ever either/or. You or I might automatically go for whoever has the D next to their name, but there should at least be some awareness as to why someone else who has nothing left to lose and is being tired of getting sold out and lied to might not.

It's amazing what 41 GOP Senators and a handful of "tea party" freaks were able to accomplish, with dark money being shoveled into their efforts. But yeah, Dem voter apathy was self-inflicted in '10 & '14. Is our children learning now, in 2026, with Grampa Walnuts burning it all down? Let's hope!

Yup. Murc's law. But I'd also theorize that maybe Dems would do better to devote more energy to motivating their base -- again, by the simple performative act of *being seen fighting* -- than by futile DFH-punching to try to impress horrible excuses for humanity.

Something that may (or not) be worth considering: after Obama's landslide win in 2008, how many pundits and common-taters do you recall seeing or reading imploring Republicans to reach out and listen to Dem or "swing" voters?
