The posters saying "wait till you hear how many books the librarians shred" are being disingenuous. The destruction of books is not by itself what's causing outrage. It's in combination with many other factors, chief among them AI companies' history of unethical and even blatantly illegal actions.

i tried to do some internet searching and the most official non-ai-slop advice i could find was "get a cost estimate for what it will cost before you get that medical service" and. yeah i guess that does explain why ER bills (and post ER care) are probably the easiest bills to jack up

ahhhhhhhhh it definitely seemed like there were less of them this year. they do a shuffle where they cancel all their plans and reissue them and people get automatically moved to what someone or something decides is the most similar plan, if they don't re-pick... it's all so extremely on purpose

ughghgh also yeah im doing the math of 'well with a coinsurance they can theoretically charge me infinite money' (but also the math of 'oh hey with this one i only have to pay $75 for my adhd meds every month')

but also i guess hospitals run by charging as much to insurance as possible and don't give a fuck about overcharging actual people unless you fight them on it

and every time i do my yearly marketplace insurance comparison it's like 'wow they invented like a dozen extra categories and types of payment just to confuse and trick people huh'

i think there were only one or two plans in my state this year that had copay for the ER instead of coinsurance... and this is part of why im paying 800 bucks a month ~_~

Things to mention: there is an active tuberculosis outbreak, the facility is overcrowded, the people detained there do not have access to basic hygiene, and the unsanitary conditions and exposure to life-threatening illness create a health hazard that the department must act upon.
