Looking at a broken ZX Spectrum Issue 1 for a friend, recapped it at his request (kit he sent was all axial caps so had to get creative) but it hasn't helped. I'm fairly confident that not all the RAM is actually bad. Bad ULA perhaps?

Some of you may remember Sir Clive Sinclair, who invented both the ZX81 computer and the C5 tricycle. Today would have been his 86th birthday, had he not died in 2021. We will have our C5 out and running about this weekend for our Retro Wheels days!

To confuse further, SYMBOL SHIFT has BASIC keywords and EXTENDED MODE had symbols 🙂

memory config on the speccy 48k was a nightmare. every game had a different loading scheme. but you learned to read the coloured stripes on the tape loader. you knew if it was gonna crash before it did.

Apart from setting RAMTOP manually and display file being forbidden from crossing the 32K boundary, were there other incompatibility issues with the 64K Memopak on the ZX81 ?
