They don't WANT a policy project or a mode of governance. They just want social sanction to get as homicidal as they wanna be. They're not fussy whom, either, they just want to be freed of those pesky "civilization" norms that say you can't mulch your neighbors for funzies.

I think calling it fetishization doesn't go far enough. A crucial appeal of fascism is *valorizing* violence. Fascism's value proposition is always, "hey, everybody, let's have a Purge! Wouldn't that be GREAT?" Some people, they've been waiting their whole lives for that invitation.

I watched a cogent video essay that contended that "No thoughts only vibes" has always been core to fascism, both its operation and its appeal.

I just dug up the post in which I mentioned learning about the term, and was reminded I got a comment pointing at this blog post about the history of the term: languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/nll/?p=4339 which says it's been DoD standard since the 1980s or 1990s.

Fwiw, I took a DoD training for psychotherapists back in 2015, which stressed that the preferred inclusive term for armed service members and veterans was "warfighters". The GOP may use it more, but it doesn't seem to be their coinage.

I can promise you it will NOT "be different this time". It's not the thing that needs to change since it had what you wanted all along. To get a different experience, you would need to be different this time.
