Robb was removed from the press office’s private WhatsApp groups on June 27, a little over a week after he began doing work for Lineage on June 19. He is no longer doing volunteer advising for the mayor.

Nathan Hochman, the current L.A. County district attorney, is far pithier in his Google reviews He had an “Awesome bagel!” at Pop’s in Brentwood And at Spencer’s — an it girl-approved luxury day spa in West Hollywood — he had six words to say, all approving. lamaterial.com/p/la-politic...

Former L.A. County District Attorney Jackie Lacey goes long in her reviews. She had a very terrible experience getting her cracked iPhone 5s repaired at a Northridge Office Depot in 2017 (212 words) And also penned more than 400 glowing words about a window replacement company.

Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez prizes authenticity in his restaurant cuisine, be it Thai, Chinese or Mexican food. He also had a great time at an Eagles concert at the newly-renovated Kia Forum in 2014.

And CD 13 - looks like Hugo Soto-Martinez could potentially avoid a runoff as well, but again, these results are very very early. Lots of ballots still to be counted

Early results for CD 3, CD 9 and CD 11 QUITE an early lead for Traci Park in CD 11

Looking good so far for Eunisses Hernandez in CD 1 - very hard to avoid a runoff with four challengers but seems possible if these results hold.

Still very early, but hard to imagine Katy Y doesn’t avoid a runoff in CD 5

I also talked to election data expert Paul Mitchell about how to parse the first few tranches of results. The short answer: it’s harder to know what to expect this year for a few reasons lamaterial.com/p/how-to-par...

Ballot-filled helicopters will also be jetting from Lancaster, Pomona, Santa Monica, Van Nuys, Santa Clarita, Torrance & Lakewood to get counted in Industry. The Sheriff’s Department actually removes seats from their helicopters “to make sure we can get as many ballots on those birds as possible.”

But anyway, back to the complicated logistical undertaking necessary to transport, process and tabulate the ballots in the nation’s most populous county — a place that sprawls across more than 4,000 square miles and is home to nearly 6 million registered voters. lamaterial.com/p/how-to-par...

This didn’t make it into our story, but I talked to the priest at St. Catherine’s church on Catalina, who told me the mayor and 2 council races in Avalon are closely followed, mainly because “everybody knows everybody.”
