An oldie but goodie rec for writers (for novelists but helpful to those writing short stories) Susan Bell’s The Artful Edit: On the Practice of Editing Yourself (2008). She treats revision as an art form & offers examples, a case study that you can follow w/ some cool interviews.

Rest in power to the legendary Betye Saar, a true master who turned assemblage into a sacred language of Black imagination & survival. I wrote about her enduring impact & the brilliant creative lineage of her 3 daughters in my book, THE TONGUE I DREAM IN, out soon from PM Press. We owe her so much.
