🌊🪸 DAY 06. TIGER SHARK 🐯🦈 Known as the "garbage eater" of the sea Tiger Sharks have been known to devour many man-made objects, however they are also naturally have the most diverse diet of any shark!

We're just a little over halfway through the event and want to take a moment to give huge thanks to everyone participating, drawing, or sharing each other's work! This is a small but fun event, and we're always elated to see everyone's takes on the sharks of the world 🌊🪸 Thanks for being here! 🦈🩵

🌊🪸 DAY 05. GUMMY SHARK 🦈🍬 (Mustelus antarcticus) It's not what you think! There is truly a small species of shark called the Gummy Shark- named so after its lack of any prominent teeth and instead large toothy plates in its mouth that it uses to crush mollusks- making it seem like it has no teeth!

🌊🪸 DAY 04. ZEBRA SHARK 🦈🦓 (Stegostoma tigrinum) This spotted beauty actually gets its name from the black and white banded xolorstion it has when young! This large and gentle shark is nocturnal- hunting for mollusks and other favored prey at night.

🌊🩵 GHOST SHARK 🦈👻 We're fudging the definition of shark today as this species is actually classified as Chimaera who's closest shark ancestor lived almost 400 million years ago! The definition is broad- meaning you can draw any Chimaera which are found in every ocean but the Arctic and Antarctic.

🌊🪸 DAY 01. LEMON SHARK 🦈🍋 (Negaprion brevirostris) Lemon sharks are a social shark species that may live in large groups- often returning to "shark nurseries" where they give live birth to their young! This gentle giant is named after its yellowish hue 🍋

🌊🪸 DAY 01. EPAULETTE SHARK 🦈⚫️ (Hemiscyllium ocellatum) Known to frequent tide pools for food, did you know this shark has evolved to "walk" on its fins if the water goes out? It's true! Epaulette Sharks are also able to survive anoxic pools by selectively shutting down certain neural functions.
