Self referral private pay come into effect today. I've written to the Minister seeking answers on the new policy for self-referred preventative health testing. Albertans deserve clarity on reimbursement eligibility, criteria & the claims process. Transparency shouldn't come after implementation.

The UCP government is introducing US style health care, where your job determines your coverage. Shifting costs from government to employers sounds small. But it sets a dangerous precedent where employers would re-consider factors like employees’ age. This is dangerous!

Self-referral private pay testing / screening sounds like a quick fix, but it comes with a public cost. Every result needs clinical context, & creates a duty to care. Without added staffing capacity, or clinical oversight to care those demands overload the public system.

Self-referral diagnostic testing erodes primary care's core function. This is replacing primary care coordinated referral systems with a private, pay-to-test. This drives unnecessary testing, divert scarce professionals from public while weakening the role of family medicine. This is bad.

Today’s announcement of private pay preventative services won't solve wait times. It will make them worse. Danielle Smith & her UCP government have given up on fixing public health care. They have thrown in the towel and are asking us to pay instead.

Prevention saves lives, reduces hospital costs and benefits all of us. Yesterday, the UCP privatized Alberta’s preventative health services through regulations. They are creating American style preventative services. Your Alberta health card just lost some of its power.

It has been years since we heard "We will fix healthcare in 90 days." It has also been months since we heard "We will have Triage Liaison Physicians in ERs in 30 days." We are still in healthcare crisis with no finish line in sight. Albertans deserve real solutions, NOW.

Im with a constituent of mine who is a senior. His passport expired & doesn’t want to renew his passport. He wants to renew his drivers licence. Was told his citizenship certificate of 1975 isn’t acceptable. So, he has to renew his passport. For a citizen that drives for 60 years? Ridiculous!

Danielle Smith launched the new driver's license that ties your citizenship marker to your health number. The privacy commissioner warned About the risks but they ignored & did it anyway. Our health data shouldn't be baked into our driver's licenses. This is another privacy risk.

When Albertans can’t find a family doctor, they turn to walk-in clinics. That is the reality for 80% of patients. Yet when people do see their family doctor, they’re satisfied. So what’s the issue? Access. We need solutions that strengthen access, not divide our already stretched workforce.

The government now created a panel that will study the studies of economic implications on separation. This will be done before the referendum that will determine doing another referendum on separation. That is UCP governance!

$100 million is the price tag for Premier Smith's referendum. That is money that could have gone into our crumbling hospitals. Specifically when Albertans are waiting nearly THREE YEARS for an MRI. My constituents are absolutely furious about Premier Smith’s wrong priorities.
