Hi! I post hilariously obscure video game trivia and have a silly little youtube channel about things I find cool in fighting games: https://linktr.ee/SeventhForce

That's one way of putting it lol, just gotta try not to fumble her I guess!

Yeah, I'm not too tapped into opinions on the series since I never played much of it beforehand. Only thing I really know is that the 3rd game is apparently *really* good.

There is one more, though it only applies to PAL territories: Puyo Pop Fever, which released on the same day on PS2/Xbox/GC in Feb 2004. Not even the craziest fact about it, either: All three of those versions plus the DS, PSP and Dreamcast (yes, DREAMCAST) versions released that same year.

Best part is, it's not even a sudden gameplay shift or anything. A lot of the boss fights in the game (Death, Astarte, etc.) highly encourage swapping and using teamwork frequently, so not only is it *really* cool, it's the logical endpoint of the game's boss design PoR is really special man

Yeah, it and OoE really show that Drac can still be a really great fight even without a monstrous form. I'm not even that much of a SCIV guy (I think Rondo and Bloodlines are the better 16-bit games) but Simon's theme kicking in during the fight's last phase is one of the best moments in the series

I remember the GameInformer review being one of the few times I'd seen a video game review hype up a final boss fight and thinking "nah, it can't be that good" But no it just straight up is. Brilliant way to leverage the game's main gimmick

It be like that sometimes lol, take your time man

I love that SF6 and CoTW specifically style the EX version after the original Fatal Fury 1 incarnation visually

A lot of Frontiers soundtrack isn't really up my alley, but that's just a me thing, mostly. The good stuff is *really* good though, Ephemeral is probably one of the best Sonic songs of the last 15 years

010

Agreed. Again, the franchise still has outstanding music, her presence is just sorely missed is all

010

Ha, nice.

You know, I've never thought about that, but a game leading up to the Elf Wars would honestly be way more narratively (ad even potentially mechanically) interesting than covering the conflict itself.

Though now that I think about it, maybe a second channel for stuff like this wouldn't be a bad idea. I'll workshop it

It's something I've thought about, but YT shorts also kinda mess with your place in the algo, since YT more or less treats the shorts side of things as an entirely separate audience, so it'll probably just be a little thing I do on social media occasionally for fun

"It'd be kind of like if Frank Lloyd Wright built a toilet in the United States or something" "...No, I-I don't think it would." holy shit lmao

0110

Agreed. I think it's closet the series has gotten to Mario in terms of honing in on a level gimmick, utilizing it within reason and moving on before it gets too stale

No shade to anyone that enjoys it! We all have the one childhood game we'll defend with our lives lol

020

I think I pretty much agree 100% here. Especially wrt to Colors (I love it but I know way more casual fans that enjoy it than in-too-deep 3D fans)

Cheating here since it's a remix of a beat 'em up song for an RPG but hey, loopholes are fun I can never decide whether or not this or the Final Fight CD version of Bay Area is my favorite arrangement of the song, but this is absolutely a top tier rendition nonetheless
