“People who have never previously demonstrated any support for our community do NOT get to use our tragedies to promote bigotry.” The people who usually say LGBTQ+ lives are “propaganda” or “ideology” now seek to weaponise homo/transphobic violence to cultivate racism. It’s painfully gross.

We need to cultivate queer culture by giving artists, not landlords, greater control.

I won't say that this was enjoyable to record because talking about how my queer community is being demonised is always awful, but it is an important conversation with people whose company I value and enjoy. “Homosexuality is a sin. We shouldn’t promote gay lifestyles. Gay couples shouldn’t get married or have kids. But I support gay people.” Some of the vilest homophobia was spouted by people who claimed they weren’t anti-gay. Now we see the same tactics employed by those opposed to trans rights.

Meanwhile, here is a marsupial I stumbled upon on a frolic in Brisbane.

For what it’s worth, Amnesty International in Australia was the first place I felt comfortable coming out as gay when I was 19. I felt safe to do this because there were many gay folks in the organisation. I found community. Amnesty represents me much more as a flaming homosexual than LGB Alliance.

The Times has played a key role in laundering transphobia and orchestrating anti-trans moral panics in the UK. Amnesty International UK, along with many trans and feminist organisations, have documented this. Trying to censor/punish people who say transphobia is “anti-rights” just proves the point.

Trans people are banned from everything and can barely name their oppressors lest they are monstered by the media and in parliament. Never mind the threat of jail for not disclosing being trans before a sexual encounter or even for saying some shit. It's surreal being trans in the UK right now.
