When approaching the end of Launch Base Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (& Knuckles), Eggman is shown to be particularly late in arriving pilot his Egg Cannon. Sonic probably could have just blitzed right past him if he wanted to, but he humors the doctor. What a good sport.
