Vancouver city councillor

Trans rights are human rights, everyday and every night

COPE: The Coalition of Progressive Electors

Beautiful night for the Trans March! COPE will always fight for trans rights, and work to provide material resources to make Vancouver a just, joyful, and inclusive city. @seanorr.bsky.social @devyani.bsky.social @stephanieformayor.bsky.social

Well that’s a wrap on this term! Couldn’t have done it without these 3. @lucymaloney.bsky.social @ptfry.bsky.social @rebeccaleebligh.bsky.social aka The Northsiders

Love this Pride Parade poster from 94 in the back hallway at City Hall

Happy to support Vancouver’s capital plan yesterday and glad council supported the inclusion of Kits Pool and jointly operated faculties at the suggestion of Tom Digby. Disappointed about ABC striking out Renfrew, but we can revisit that in the future.

Vancouver deserves better than petty Trump style politics. We need a mayor that will bring all of council together, not play silly games like this.

"This seems that it is about limiting debate and limiting motions that are coming to the floor." @seanorr.bsky.social CBC reports on Ken Sim and ABC voting to clock out of work early. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

This is honestly wild. Not only do I think this was a political decision AND against the Vancouver Charter’s rules of good governance, it’s also a waste of taxpayer money. Dozens of hours have been spent crafting motions that were drafted in consultation with community members

COPE: The Coalition of Progressive Electors

NOW at City Hall: ABC's Brian Montague moved to cancel July 29th Council meeting, claiming there isn't enough time to get through Council business. This means motions already submitted won't be debated before summer break. Ken Sim & ABC showing contempt for local democracy. @seanorr.bsky.social

“Extreme heat becomes deadly in Vancouver because of inequality, Orr said. Between 2023 and 2025 the number of unhoused Vancouverites rose 12 per cent, to 2,715 people. Vancouver can’t say it’s prepared for extreme heat with numbers like that, Orr said.”

A group of doctors, nurses and paramedics marked the five-year anniversary of the 2021 heat dome on June 29, reflecting on how British Columbia remains at high risk for heat-related injuries and deaths. thetyee.ca/News/2026/07...

Love this: “When COPE approached me, and we discussed kind of where we are right now in our trajectory as a society, as a culture, locally, globally, as well, we discussed how important it is right now to have courage in this moment to tell the truth about our political and economic systems.”

“We really have to press the Province to make transit free. Let’s get people out of their cars.” @stephanieformayor.bsky.social dailyhive.com/vancouver/va...

Great to tour the new Ashtrey recovery resource centre. Showers, laundry, food, and access to life saving services. @sarahblyth.bsky.social

The vibes at this strike action were immaculate. Let’s take care of nurses and all health care workers like our lives depend on it.

COPE: The Coalition of Progressive Electors

COPE is always on the side of workers. Our mayoral candidate @stephanieformayor.bsky.social & Councillor @seanorr.bsky.social joined other candidates and volunteers this morning to show solidarity with BC Nurses Union members outside Vancouver General Hospital.

Last year I attempted to raise the Empty Homes Tax which would encourage these units to be rented out. This move by Carney is also confusing considering the province paused the community housing fund, which delivers deeply affordable units.

Jenny Kwan

Public funds must guarantee affordable homes for people, not shield private developers from market risks. Thousands of investor condos sit empty while working families, renters, and seniors are left struggling. We need to put long-term affordability ahead of developer bailouts.
