The climate crisis is making extreme wildfire conditions more intense and more common, but our firefighting resources have not kept pace with the scale of the threat. To protect communities and nature, our governments must invest in better firefighting capability in Scotland.

Scotland stands with Palestine 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💚🇵🇸 Today I caught up with my friend Husam Zomlot, Palestinian ambassador to the UK. We discussed the need to uphold international law and take action against the UK companies, 'charities' & individuals complicit in Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine.

On Sunday I joined constituents, campaigners and trade unionists to honour those from Lanarkshire who made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight against fascism in the Spanish Civil War. Congratulations to the North Lanarkshire No Pasaran Memorial Committee for another excellent gathering.

There can be no excuses for speaking at a fascist rally which brought racism, intimidation and even nazi salutes to our streets. We can not allow fascists any place in Scotland and they must be rejected by all parties.

Do you know what 'cheapens the Holocaust'? Sharing a platform with people who say they 'trust Adolf Hitler' and that Jews are 'not our people'. That's what Reform did in Glasgow yesterday. A rally where you can't move for Nazis is a Nazi rally.

For the second time in as many months Nazis have rioted in Glasgow. They targeted anyone who isn't white, as well as those daring to stand up to them. Reform's Thomas Kerr claims 'Scotland is lawless'. So will he condemn the Reform councillor who spoke at this 'rally' with violent Nazis?

People make Glasgow, Fascists don't.

I joined the Stand up to Racism - Scotland rally today in Glasgow. Such important messages of unity in communities, about women's campaigns for justice and challenging austerity and billionaires, rather than any hatred of the people we share our places with.

Scotland's facing a wave of hyper-scale data centre applications. If built they'd consume more than 1.5 times our peak electricity use, with no requirement to assess their environmental impact. We need to ensure our economy works for everyone, not just tech billionaires. ➡️ greens.scot/datacentres

Police Scotland has declared a major incident and Nethy Bridge residents are being evacuated tonight as the Cairngorms wildfire spreads. I've written to the Cabinet Secretary asking what further support, including resilience and recovery arrangements, is now being put in place.

This is great news for local services in Edinburgh. Tourist taxes are already commonplace across Europe and the world, raising vital funds. That's why Scottish Green MSPs and councillors led the way in giving councils the power to implement them here.

This is just a glimpse of what's to come without immediate action. It’s time to treat Scotland's wildfire risk as the national emergency it is. That means investing in prevention, early warning systems, and restoring the natural habitats that make our landscapes more resilient.

The call for interest in the former CCA building has been published. While it's open to bids to lease the building, it doesn't rule out sale to a private company for commercial use. That would be unacceptable. It must stay in public hands, as a culture space. greens.scot/news/former-...

Andy Burnham must end the UK's participation in Donald Trump's disastrous and dangerous war on Iran immediately. Our airports should not be used as staging posts for US wars of aggression that make us all less safe.

Andy Burnham is allowing Donald Trump to use UK bases for his illegal war in Iran. Britain should not be complicit in war crimes. The Scottish Greens will continue to push the Scottish Government to make sure that Scottish airports aren’t used as a staging post for Trump’s troops!

Failed politicians shouldn't become unelected, unaccountable law makers for the rest of their lives. This is a fundamental principle of democracy. The House of Lords is a relic long past its sell by date.
