Former Consul. Reluctant conqueror. I watched Rome defeat its rivals yet lose itself. Democracy dies when ambition outruns institutions, wealth captures politics, and citizens forget their common fate. Defend the Republic before you're forced to mourn it.

Yankees go into today's extra innings with a 1-7 record in extra innings in 2026, which I have to attribute to bad coaching, right? cc/ @hunterw.bsky.social

Democratic candidate shown to have problems, Democrats push him out and replace him NYT: Democratic in Disarry! Republican congressman abuses wife and breaks child's collarbone. Republicans back him. NYT: Republican are unified!

It is going to fun & exciting to find out exactly what mix of fraud & incompetence takes all the money.

I hereby propose the "No Bailing Out Anyone Who Gave All Their Money to Elon and Lost It" Act, including the mandatory rider "No Seriously, Under No Circumstances Do You Get a Cent of Taxpayer Money Even If You're Living Under a Bridge and Eating Cat Food"

DSA policies are way more popular (and better) than Republican polices which is why all of the Corporate Media attacks on DSA are data (and reality) free.

Possible between: crypto scams, prediction markets, insider trading, real-estate “deals”, planes, pardons, rare metals, nuclear “deals”, defense contracts, Jared’s Saudi arrangement, UAE bribes, cash stolen from Venezuela Trump Family actually way over $10 billion.

Aaron Rupar

Q: There's a report that the US has taken in $13b from Venezuela. Where is that money going? T: Even more Q: But where is it going? T: We've paid for that war many times over Q: Where is the money going? T: Running the country Q: No, the money US is taking in -- T: Running the country

NYT feels good about themselves with isolated articles detailing Trump Family corruption, but they will casually report on: crypto, the predictions markets, the data center boom, rare-earths mining, and nuclear subsidies & regulations in coming weeks & months and fail to note Trump Family interests.

NBC's kristen welker was caught laughing it up with Stephen Miller. Stephen Miller who architected the family separation policy. Stephen Miller who pushed the Muslim travel ban. Stephen Miller who oversaw the killing of Americans by ICE agents. This is why independent media is crucial.

NYT has an impressive track-record of telling US we are wrong for a few years then thinking they are heroes when they finally come around to reality.

Have been a member of the @whca.bsky.social almost continuously since the 1990s. Our mission is to defend the First Amendment rights of White House correspondents to report on the president without fear or favor. Unfortunately last night did not advance that cause. Time to rethink the dinner.

Historians consuming 2015-2026+ Corporate Media will marvel at the absurdity of their sycophantic SaneWashing combined with their perverted deference & self-satisfaction for themselves.

Mrs. Betty Bowers

TRUMP: “Ya know, I didn’t just rape those little girls—and, sometimes, boys—Jeffrey let me kill some of them. And then he was nice enough to then get rid of their little bodies.” New York Times: “Trump told a somewhat ribald story before thanking a friend.”

War on Democratic cities & War on Iran will cost US over $trillion by end of 2028, many will die, we will be less free, less secure, less prosperous. Easy to get caught up in day-to-day follies of Trump’s assault on US, but important to tie into big picture narrative, which is truly terrible for US.

Phil Lewis

The National Guard Bureau will spend $292 million to provide a "long-term housing solution" for thousands of troop members deployed in DC in "apartment-style lodging units"

What NYT won’t tell US clearly (1) it is unconstitutional for President to raise taxes (2) new taxes will not increase US manufacturing, just depress US spending. Possible this is buried deep in the article, but it should be the lede.

The New York Times

President Trump imposed new duties on imports from more than 80 countries. Now, many goods arriving from these countries will face tariffs between 10% and 12.5%. Here's a look at how they apply to the country’s largest trading partners. nyti.ms/4fj47nM

Constitution super clear that only Congress can levy taxes. Not only is this blatantly unconstitutional & illegal, it is bad for US workers & businesses, and toverall economy: but you will learn none of this from reading Bezos’ “pro-business” WaPo. Because it is really pro-Trump, not pro-business.

The Washington Post

The Trump administration is expected to introduce permanent tariffs as soon as this week to replace the temporary import penalties it imposed after the Supreme Court abruptly upended President Trump’s trade strategy earlier this year.

Trump is absolutely going to try to cancel the election, it is absolutely illegal & unconstitutional, Corporate Media is going to normalize the possibility & validate his absurd lies, Supreme Court will take emergency hearings, Democrats will be weak & pathetic, but I am still confident we got this.

Only VHS I kept was “go”: great in pieces and comes together so well!

bakoon

we watched that doug liman 1999 movie "go" again last night, first time i seen it since it came out i think in high school. that movie goes down so smooth. three small meals where very attractive people have mild calamities

Someone should follow-up with Trump on which Democrats have the follow-through to add DC & PR as states, put 9 more justices on the Supreme Court, and impose state-wide multi-member districts with proportional representation: because I want to back these hypothetical dynamic Democrats to save US.

Aaron Rupar

Trump: "The Democrats are gonna terminate the filibuster as soon as they have a chance and then they're gonna approve DC and Puerto Rico as states. They get 4 more senators, 12 more congressmen, like 40 electoral votes ... you don't want to see me cry."

Corruption sometimes feels like a victimless crime, but for just $1 million in cash to Trump, White House cooperated with Taylor Farms to try to cover-up giving a bunch of Americans explosive diarrhea (and blame Taco Bell, which did not give Trump a bribe, but did the right thing for US).

public health guy

it does actually sound like taylor farms and the white house teamed up to try and blame taco bell for the outbreak. unprecedented corruption
