NHS case notes disclosed to the patient rarely need much redaction. That's why patient access was possible (as it isn't really with social care recording. Your GP is unlikely to write 'normal for Norfolk' anyway now, but no reason you shouldn't see that.

Interesting. Sometimes we use Digital Rights Requests as that covers all the other rights (object to processing, erasure etc). FOIs are even more likely to be redacted as they're disclosures to the public rather than to requesting individual.

It's a subject access request, your right under GDPR to have a copy of information about you held by an organisation or data controller (which includes non-organisations like elected representatives and trustees).

Everybody hates to receive redacted information in a SAR. But the disclosing body has to protect other individuals involved. We often get requests for review on the basis 'I can't see the size and shape of what's redacted that would give me a clue as to what it says'. I'm afraid that's deliberate.

If not a direct one, then certainly in the assisting rather than leading role.
