brendanMy talk from last month's @atproto.nyc, on Atmospheric Stacks! How the Atmosphere can compete with incumbents like Substack — not by recreating 'em app for app, but by replacing 'em collectively, as an ecosystem. With @leaflet.pub & @standard.site as case study + expanded with a few *addenda* :)

Who's got thoughts on this??!
jaredScheming on "scenes" for leaflet: - works with any standard.site.publication - pubs can only belong to 1 scene - scene page lists pubs, new posts, maaaybe leaderboards - start w/ limited set of scenes, have a bootstrap process for new ones - you can mark a post a "reply" to a post in your scene
yep! switch to @leaflet.pub & break the cycle! (or anywhere else: pckt, Offprint, Ghost, Buttondown, lots of good alternatives — tbf none a perfect replacement, we have our work cut out to fully replace, but: here it is *possible* and we're well on our way!)
Anuj AhoojaWe're literally watching Substack writers realize they're getting more "followers" (closed) than "subscribers" (open) and worried about the future *again*. I think it's worth breaking that cycle more so than it is to build the next thing.
Overlapping context-specific communities, on a whole spectrum of public commons to cozy private spaces, all interoperable in a global network — yeahhhh we've got a big opportunity here!
Great post on adversarial interop for atproto, with detail on a bunch of potential ideas/approaches!
amazing list, I particularly like 4, 8, 15, and 49 …but the wildest part is that @minormobius.bsky.social got opus to one-shot em and actually prototyped > half! https://fifty.mino.mobi/
