I don’t feel like attending big conferences anymore. I have enough friends, know the fields enough, and don’t really find new research directions that interesting. Old? Perhaps!

Considering the little time one has for reading books, fellow academics, what would you rather spend your time reading: 1- Older books that you’ve missed before? 2- the hot, new scholarship of the day?

The US gov’t, taking clues from Loki, is fomenting mischief around the world. Presently, it has prepared a nice headache for Spain’s leftist gov’t to punish it for not toeing the line. This will probably cause the fall of the Spanish gov’t, but the US should also consider Loki’s fate…

The Roissy-CDG airport of Paris never fails to amuse & surprise. Who’d think that in the land of Haute Cuisine, food options of an entire terminal are poorer than that of the land of bitterballen and limited to two bakeries & Carrefour City supermarket? Even American airports do better than this!

Speaking of Cathedrals, the one in Metz wasn’t half bad either!

I am seldom been impressed by gothic churches anymore. But the Cathedral of Reims, the coronation place of the kings of France, took my breath away!

After four months of traipsing around Europe & North America living like a nomad at an advanced age, my mum finally got tired of it all & returned to Tehran. Her mood immediately improved & her confidence has returned. I am both happy & sad & really just want to go to Iran & live there. I’m tired.

I was driving across Champagne today & stopped at a petrol station and saw that they have decorated their carpark area with small vines bearing grapes!
