Finished watching Rapture on BBC iPlayer, yesterday evening. Quite enjoyed it. Although the storyline was a bit far fetched, I liked the messaging around climate change, corruption & cults that it was trying to portray.

Mundane tasks can often give the greatest satisfaction. Set-to & cleaned out the two overflow pipes & main pipe under my kitchen sink. It was a challenging task (tight space & kneeling 🫣) & which reqd help from husband to remove a shelf to get at said pipes. Teamwork at its best.

I feel for Adam Peaty but can’t help wondering whether his time at the very top is now in the past. However, what I really want for him is for him to heal the rift with his family because when he does, he might find things are a whole lot better for him, both in & out of the water.

Reflecting on yesterday when we went with my husband’s 2 nieces as they said their very final goodbyes to their Dad (one of my husband’s brothers). He died suddenly in Jan 2025 & it’s taken them until now to be able to feel strong enough to scatter his ashes. It was intimate, emotional & beautiful.

Early days but I’m actually beginning to warm towards Andy Burnham. To date, he seems to be making sensible decisions & keeping people informed. The Labour Party must control the media, though, & not the other way round.

Whatever SKS & the Labour govt. did & now whatever Burnham & the govt. do, it will never be good enough for some folks in this country. The moaners & haters need to remember that we’re affected by the global economy, the impact of Brexit & the financial legacy of the response to the covid pandemic.

Tax cuts; tax increases. Mixed views emerging this morning regarding both the 20% business rate cuts for hospitality & a suggestion to further tax the wealthiest. Who’d be PM of this still-divided, starkly haves & haves not, country?

The comments made by women regarding (Andy Burnham’s wife), Marie-France van Heel’s choice of dress earlier this week, are absolutely atrocious. Women need to support each other, not resort to catty, bitchy, nasty, immature comments. Shame on you if you were one of those women.
