I imagine they'd be dangerous in an accidental way, like the stuff they craft can be a heavy burn hazard or they might deconstruct something important like a support beam. Dangerous, but not necessarily malicious.

It is a test of character for your players, clearly. Can they or can they not resist the headpat/adopt impulses?
