Makerspace guy. Once: Game writing at Game Informer (Intern), places that don't exist anymore. Now: Game, 3D art, and IRL tinkering.

Fun fact, forks are actually an ass form of suspension, and are out performed by a swing arm at the front because it separates bump absorption and steering. Honda and Elf actually built and raced them, but the inertia of manufacturing and riders not being used to how it felt killed it.

It always annoys me that motorcycle development nearly went down the path that would have eventually resulted in real-life Akira motocycles with car-like feet-forward seating, hub center steering, and long wheelbases. The Ner-A-Car was a 1920's premonition of a future that never came.

AI companies and anyone who works for them are what people write about when they write about demons. Like literal, physical manifestations of a profound, inhuman malevolence that's nature is incomprehensible in a cosmic horror type sense.

What … the fuck www.news.com.au/technology/o...

I feel like some type of origin floating system should just be built into game engines by default in 2026. Like, Godot should just have the ability to shift the origin either by defining a reference node or by doing it dynamically.

Man, PCBWay's nonsense communications protocols is dangerously close to fucking me over.

Why is Kayak running an ad that acts like half of millenials weren't still in high school when the iPhone launched?

"Indie MMO" really is the "I bought an old sailing ship to work on as a project" of gamedev.

With the Avatar stuff I really need to ask why people keep lining up to just annihilate their reputation with LLM slop. Like... surely someone on your team is at least aware that people hate this fucking shit, even if y'all are ambivalent. How does this keep happening?

Couple questions for the Bluesky devs. 1) why does the trending box seem to be per browser / cookie based, or why are you turning it back on when I know I turned it off, 2) why does the trending thread for "Football Commitments" return info about stuff in Chicago, i.e. why does it suck so bad?

I've been going through Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 since season 3 is making its way off Crunchroll finally, and it's kinda wild how fast it goes from fine to having completely overstayed its welcome. Turns on a dime in episode 18.

Sunrise really committed to not understanding why people like Gundam or why it succeeds.

Man, the Science Saru GitS has such a weird vibe. All the episodes feel like they cut off in the middle of an episode, I'm pretty sure a good chunk of the start of ep. 3 just didn't get finished, and generally I think they've to this point done a lot of bad conceptual recycling.

It'd be really neat if trying to sell things didn't involve listings randomly evolving into buglights for belligerent weirdos.

Trying to figure out where my Realis backer survey, only to realize that the @apwot.bsky.social pledge I forgot about 2.5 years ago was actually for $150 and feeling like a new type of total moron, lol.

I listened to it for a 4th time and think I need to go lay down for a minute.

I have completed the required 3 listens and come to the absolutely shocking, entirely unforseen conclusion that I really like the new Protest the Hero album.

Finally went back to Expedition 33, in spite of itself, and for all there is to like I just don't get the unending praise. All combat in this game is designed around the developers playing a one sided game of equivalent to someone showing you a trick and mocking you for not knowing it sight unseen.

Been using my family's Prime sub to watch new GitS and it preserved my choice for Japanese audio across to Project Hailmary and actually what the fuck? Why would you do that? How are all these companies so trash at everything? There's not a person on the planet who wants that to be how this works.

I get this, but also I work at a makerspace... which is literally this. Implementations vary, but ours is $50/m (i.e. less than any live sports streamer) for access to a bunch of tools and a community space. Community spaces do exist. Not everywhere, not as often as they should, but they do.

I ask as always: What were these mythical "third places that previous generations had available to them?" The whole idea of "third places" is just so much Camelot mythmaking.
