I think it is really important that one of the big trans-inclusive organisations (are there any left?) stands up to a lawsuit. Until that happens there won't be sufficient attention drawn to the problem.

Oh absolutely, and the money issue is a huge problem. You can already see it having an effect on legal academia in the UK. There is money for the taking if you have the right opinions.

I have met a few people who seem genuinely devoted to the intellectual project (including someone doing a fascinating study of Australian conservativism), but they are also the kind of people who are increasingly uncomfortable with the connotations now attached to label 'conservative'.

I've made myself unpopular in the past by saying we need to do more to accommodate conservative thought in academia. But I'm also yet to see anyone really try to grapple with the question: "what is the place for conservative intellectuals in a political movement led by Donald Trump?"

I also like the idea that it's Stonewall's fault for deciding that trans liberation was the next great rights challenge. What's that meant to prove? If that's what they decided then all you've done is show how right they were.
