Trying to figure out zoning regulations in CT is a major headache...but at least the zoning office answers calls and emails. And quickly! The down and upsite to a highly-regulated state with tiny little hamlets for towns. (just reminding myself why I left disregulated Texas right now)

Just had to say "not this time" to a whole bunch of really amazing artists, and it literally withered my soul into nothingness. But also kinda realized that not saying anything is kinda of assholish and made a committment to respond. to. everybody. In spite of my ADHD and conflict-avoidance.

Well. Think I got my digital coloring separations process down now and the brushes I plan on using finally figured out. 😄💖

Deliberately picked one of the simpler images to start playing with final textures and color and figuring out my digital coloring method for FIVE WISHES, and fairly pleased with the results! Every layer is a b/w separation layer, so it was a little tricky initially nailing down technique.

Apparently True Grit is releasing the CSP version at the end of July. I'm not holding my breath TOO hard because watercolor is a beast to emulate in the digital space, buuuut...I am SO holding my breath. 😖

The most soul-crushing part of analog inks is that point after scanning originals where you have to decide exactly how far to push the blacks when adjusting curves and balancing levels. Just how BLACK do I really want this? Especially with a 3-color limited palette? 😭

Spent a week in Vermont and now realize it's the absolutely most beautiful fing place in the US and I now wanna live there. /starts plotting for the day after my kiddo graduates highschool/

Staying in Vermont with fellow author/illustrator bestie next week while our kids go to the Center for Cartoon Studies kids comics camp AND SO EXCITED for our work-cation. 😭💖 The best vacations are working ones IMHO. The CCS library WILL be raided by sneaky cartoonists-in-hiding. GIMME COMICS!!!

I have a script in Acquisitions today (for potentially a series) and trying hard not to hyperventilate. I've never pitched just-a-script before because while writing scripts is the one part of the comics process that comes fast and easy for me, I've never tried to actually sell one. Anywho...🤞

After a debut GN that had -20 editing (no actual editing during the creation stage followed by copy edits that included unapproved changes that had the wrong people speaking, missing balloons, etc) I learned to never assume my editor is actually going to edit my book.
