Watching “Chernobyl” again this week, I remembered how it once seemed like the USSR was on a different planet than ours. Now I know, given the US show trials, prison camps, endless lying, & indifference to life that is our government, it can happen here. It can be worse.

It would be good if people remembered these scenes: mass burials on Hart Island where many COVID victims still remain; mobile morgues for the overflow of dead spilling out of hospitals; hospital workers wearing garbage bags because there was no more protective PPE. Almost a million deaths in 2 yrs.

After the display of belly-crawling we saw from the FIFA during the World Cup, I think we can put to rest the childish notion that sport is above politics and can bring the world together.

This is a great examination of the movie through the eyes of the translator whose Odyssey Nolan used. But if you want to see a Nolan work that is damn near flawless, rewatch The Prestige. (Bonus treat is Thom Yorke’s “Analyse” running over the closing credits.)

Amazing to be in one’s 70s & watch the US have to rediscover the reasons why vaccines & safety regulations were created in the first place. The protected cocoon in which generations grew up, made possible by actions taken because so many who died before them, made us ignorant & careless & arrogant.
