There are so many 'I did this thing on drugs' videos on YouTube that it's nice to find a good one. I know nothing about these guys but this video is pure vibes. Captures some really perfect details about tripping with friends and just bumming around.

Yet another story passing my desk about an independent journalist unable to report on something because of hollow legal threats from a source. If the general public was aware of how much they don't know because it was suppressed by powerful ppl using legal intimidation they'd be shocked.

I'm kinda speechless after reading this. 5000 words of shitting on drug users, calling them zombies and arguing the whole premise harm reduction policy doesn't work. It cherry picks data, ignores structural problems and 'others' those who have been victimised by an exploitative system.

This is undoubtedly a striking story but the science journalist in me has a bunch of questions that were left unaddressed. There is a lot of "handwavey" science in the article describing forensic processes by a commercial company whose business is determining the origin of foods.

This is a wild ride of a paragraph that I had to read half a dozen times to grasp all the weird inaccuracies.

Why can't anyone do this in Australia? Why are modern "progressive" governments so impotent?

I'm a fan of Subway Takes but this new YouTube series from Kareem Rahma is absolutely delightful. It's human stories, about the importance of connection and community. Kareem has a wonderful ability to listen to ppl and create unexpectedly emotional moments. A big recommend from me. Good stuff.

As usual, the internet has reduced a wonderfully rich, 4000 word critique of something into 'Person trashes The Odyssey'. I highly recommend reading Wilson's essay. It's an incredible dive into the art of adaptation and it asks some really valuable questions about how to approach storytelling.

It's always funny when actors say, 'oh I'm actually genuinely proud of this one.' It makes you run through their filmography to try and guess what are the pieces of shit they refer to. With Tom Holland it could be almost anything. His last three, for example: Uncharted, Chaos Walking, Cherry.

Just your annual reminder that dopamine IS NOT a reward chemical or pleasure mechanism that you get 'hits' of in response to external things. It's a motivation neurotransmitter that pushes one to action. You cannot 'dopamine detox' and it's got nothing to do with feelings of pleasure.
