Yeah I started working in the 80s and nobody thought computers were going to steal the jobs - they wondered what practical purpose they could serve and justify the cost sunk into them at the time. It was just moving from paper and pen to computer and keying things in. Great for editing, not ideas.

AI won't find the cure - people will claim it did because they want the insane amounts of money being pumped into it to payoff. People will find the cure and AI might assist in simulations and extrapolations through modeling but it will be people plugging in the functions.
