I had one bring a case of wet food which of course the cats loved. I have empathy for others, I don't do things for rewards. I do things because this is who I am as a person, so I guess being neurodivergent isn't a bad thing to be.

I also did a similar thing when I was still in California. I worked at a truck gate and there was a group of cats that showed up one day. I would buy them food and treats, I always made sure to keep them out of the way of the in/outbound trucks. Truck drivers would bring food for them as well.

I did this because I knew what it was like to be in this situation. One co-worker realised what I was doing and he gave me some money to buy them a little bit more and make sure I had stuff to give them daily. Again, I deserve no praise for this. I only made sure that those kids had food.

I would bring them lunchables, small bags of chips, cookies, juice packets and right before easter I bought them a small thing of candy, which is not what I gave them any other time. I didn't tell people I did this to get a pat on the back,

No one else is aware of this, except former co-workers I had at the state capitol. There was a brother and sister that would walk through to get to school. They would stop by senators offices to ask for food. A few assistants brought this up to me, so I started buying them food with my own money.

I was written off as "weird" yet again. So if you know someone who does this, don't belittle them. Don't yell at them for asking questions. They do have feelings and there will be a point in time where they won't be around for you to yell at and made to feel like they have done something wrong.

I do things for people because I want to (or help them in some way) and not because I might get something in return. Actions have consequences and this is why I choose to not cross the line into selfish. No one questioned why I was very quiet and did not talk around people when I was younger.

I was not the golden child treated better than anyone else. I was not spared from abuse. I do not do anything without regard of how it will affect anyone else. I do not "use" people and once I've gotten all I need from them, I discard them since they are no longer a use to me.
