Trump came after my city's reparations program, but what he doesn't understand is that the work of reparations is not an attack on America’s ideals; it is an attempt to take those ideals seriously. Thanks to @sojo.net for publishing my thoughts.

Hey, cool to see this review of mine popping up on @sojo.net for Pride Month!

It was a great event, and I was delighted to be able to speak. @briankaylor.bsky.social also spoke, and, as usual, he was amazing and insightful!

Everyone should take a look at this documentary about sanctuary by Theo Rigby. It's really good, and I was so happy to be asked to write a review of it for @sojo.net 👇👇👇👇
And I give my life to these institutions. So, it is personal. The fact that people go to church, hear the message and somehow think it's compatible with concentration camps is beyond disheartening, but it means pastors have to connect it explicitly, even if its unpopular.
Rev. Dr. Michael WoolfToday, I'm thinking about the fact that 50% of mainline Protestants polled by PRRI were OK with undocumented people being sent to internment camps until they can be deported. What a failure of discipleship. It's a shocking number. So much work to do in churches. prri.org/research/the...

Do I sense critique of the ABCUSA in this article by @baptistnews.com? Maybe I'm too hopeful. Certainly Baptist distinctives can be used to create a better world, but the American Baptist Churches has had zero social witness for years, and if you haven't called out this admin by now, you won't ever.
My article for @sojo.net is live about 5 things Christians can do to support Muslims after the Islamic Center of San Diego shooting. For a deeper dive, you can also check out my book, Confronting Islamophobia in the Church. sojo.net/articles/opi...
Don't let anyone ever tell you that "they were men of their times." That's bull. Case in point - Benjamin Lay, the first Quaker to call out slavery in dramatic fashion in the early 18th century, when all the magnates of Philadelphia were pious slaveholders. Tear down their statues and put his up.
