Almost everyone seems to have the potential family name at the end of their name, but not Cocobuki Lolobuki. The ONE set of letters that all their names has in common is "ob", which is also repeated in his courtesy name. It may just be a weird little one-off. There are no other examples of it.

You know what? I'm gonna walk some of what I've said previously back. The very same Lala I've used to make my argument for family names is the one that doesn't follow the scheme that 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑙𝑎𝑙𝑎𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑔𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑙𝑙𝑜𝑤. (I'm sorry.. we're doing it again) #ffxiv #lalafell #headcanon

Since Rere's part of the upper class, most people will refer to him only as "Rurunima" in polite company, and to call him by anything else would be a grave insult. Only close friends and other races who don't get the culture are allowed to call him Rerenima. Even fewer may use Rere, his birth name.

So because we know that Plainsfolk lalafells always refer to each other by their full name in every context, I've headcanoned that certain Dunesfolk stick to the more traditional formality of only using one's courtesy name to refer to each other.

Sorry, tangent. Anyway. In real life culture, it was rude to refer to anyone with a courtesy name by their birth name unless you were a very close friend or family member. So...

For Lalas, age 20 seems to be universal for both genders. Back to the Coco brothers again, Cocobuki Lolobuki is the only brother with a courtesy name, which would suggest he's the only member of the family over age 20. The Thaumaturge's guild is being run by literal children. Think about that.

You know I promised a random tangent about courtesy names, so I'm paying off my debt. So in some Asian cultures, back in the day they used to give men courtesy names at age 20 and women upon marriage. (con't) #ffxiv #headcanon #lalafell
