More people should care about sales tax, I think. Pretty wild that it's just the norm in 45 states. It's regressive, disproportionately affecting low-income households. An extra $10 is a larger percentage of a retail worker's income than it is of a millionaire's.

Sin that must be eternally punished is a culturally Christian idea that you can and should reject. If someone admits wrongdoing and changes their behavior, that's the desired outcome. You don't continue to punish because you then signal there's no point to contrition at all, you're damned either way
