The retreat for curious programmers. Work at the edge of your abilities, develop your volitional muscles, and learn generously. 📝 Applications are open! 🔗 https://www.recurse.com/ 📍NYC | Online

Come to RC on August 25 for @geoffreylitt.com on Dynamic Documents as Personal Software! We usually think of "documents" and "applications" as different concepts. But what if we can combine both to empower more people to craft their own personal, malleable software? RSVP: luma.com/rc-dynamic

We sponsored a podcast about the history of computing! Give it a listen: magworld.pw/episodes/com...

Nick Bergson-Shilcock

The computer in the Apollo spacecraft had 4K of memory, which is about four LinkedIn posts. The computer I use today has 500,000 times more memory than my first computer, which is hard to wrap my head around. 1/3

15 years + 3,000 alums later, what started as a 6-person experiment is now a community of curious, kind programmers: engineers, artists, scientists, hobbyists, all united by a love of programming. If 6 or 12 weeks to focus on what truly interests you sounds appealing, apply! www.recurse.com/apply

From a salvaged retro arcade cabinet with a CRT monitor to a custom community game platform, @frankchiarulli.com and many other Recursers came together to make something that we couldn't have imagined alone:

This week, three people shared their handmade programming languages. We learned not only about their features and syntax but the philosophies, joys, and challenges around building them. Could you build your own language? Should you? We dare say… yes!
