My clean sketch is just my guide for where I put my colors. It is on a different layer as everything else so I just hide that layer when I do not need it anymore

I wish I could show you a timelapse of my process so you could visualize it better but I always forget to enable CSP's timelaspe feature 😭 Anyways I hope this was at least comprehensive enough and it wasn't just me rambling about nonsense

The reason it looks "soft" is because I set up my brush so it can blend colors! I don't know which program you use, but I use CSP and if you go to your brush settings it has an option to enable color mixing for that specific brush (for reference, here are the settings for the brush I use!)

- and paint from there (of course, taking into account light sources and stuff). Rinse and repeat until you finish the whole thing. I do use other brushes for stuff like grass and clouds, but 99% of the time I use the same brush for all my rendering.

I render everything with one brush!! It's called DG Main and it's from the Dave Greco brushes pack (davegreco.gumroad.com/l/xDOti) For the rendering itself I just color pick the section I'm gonna render, move the color wheel around to get 4-5 different color values (sometimes change the hue too)+
