It's simpler but different, and if it were just fossil fuel companies it would be a lot easier to fix; we would have fixed it in 1988, or in 1969. If I were to explain this in the remaining number of characters, it's 5M ppl in the US with R1 degrees, rolling over 100k per year as new graduates join.

Of course the temperature impact of climate change is important - as a cause for action. But temperature always was, and still is, an inane metric for setting policy. Too complicated — it does't and can't lead to an actionable bright line in policy. Time to zero emissions needs to be the target.

The purpose of assignments is for students to struggle with the assignment so they can learn, not to produce written output. Writing is thinking, people. You can’t outsource learning to the computer.

To me, he is talking around the problem. But maybe in the talks they will get to core problems (keeping fossil fuels in the ground, for one), but his language seems to avoid that.
