Actually the thing that’s most interesting to me about the ‘your grandparents, 100 years ago’ thing is how many men, in particular, are giving the occupations of their grandfathers only.

My great-grandparents were a ship's captain, a [deceased] barman, a teacher, a policeman, three housewives and a domestic servant (the widow)

One of my grandparents was old enough to be working in 1926 and she was a tailor, working for P Cohen in Bootle. Two of the others became teachers and the last a fundraiser/campaigner for RNIB
